This assignment is designed to provide you with an opportunity to perform a case study analysis relating to the Leisure, Sport, Tourism industry. A case study has the advantages of helping you gain a practical application to relevant topics occurring in the leisure, sport and tourism industries. A case study is a description of an actual administrative situation involving a decision to be made or a problem to be solved. It can a real situation that actually happened just as described, or portions have been disguised for reasons of privacy. Most case studies are written in such a way that the reader takes the place of the manager whose responsibility is to make decisions to help solve the problem. Therefore, your research should inform the decision(s) that need to be made. Take note that decisions can involve leaving the situation as it is and do nothing. The Case Study Topic will be provided to you after the first week of classes. A case study analysis must do these things: • Be organized around and related directly to the thesis or question you are addressing • Synthesize results into a summary of what is and is not known • Identify areas of controversy in the research you conducted • Formulate questions that need further research Requirements 1. Review the case study. Include the following in your report: 1. Introduction Explain the overall purpose, content, and structure of the analysis. Develop a specific question related to the general topic, issue, or area of concern, in order to provide you with greater focus and an appropriate context for conducting relevant research. 2. Review (no fewer than 10 citations – see guidelines that follow***) The main part of the analysis can be structured into headings and sub-headings, including “Current State Analysis”, “Objective”, “Action Steps” and “Solution”. § Your research must address qualitative versus quantitative evidence to support your argument(s). Also, a strong analysis will include themes or the identification of trends, such as those identified in the course textbook as well as other course assignments/material. § Conclusion Summarize the main points of the case study analysis and identify areas where future research may be needed. Be sure to maintain the focus established in the introduction. Your written report must be word-processed using a 12-point font (I recommend Arial or a similar style that is easy to read), double-spaced with 1-inch margins, and adhere to APA format standards. Don’t forget to number your pages! Staple the report on the top, left-hand side (no covers or special binding). It will include the following sections: • Title Page (including the title of the assignment, your name, the course name and section, and the date submitted – no page number on the cover page) • Body (5-7 pages addressing the requirements above –Introduction, Review, and Conclusion) • List of References Evaluation: You will be graded on Current State Analysis (5 Marks); Objective (5 Marks); Action Steps (5 marks); Solution ( 5 marks) • Correct grammar, spelling, and punctuation are used throughout the report. • Appropriate terminology is used while jargon and clichés are avoided. • The report is complete (all required points have been fully addressed and no fewer than 10 citations are presented).
