Using the example of a successful organization of your choice, discuss at least four strategies that were implemented to engage employees. Analyze how these strategies have enabled the organization to achieve its objectives.

Introduction:
The report aims at focusing on global business with the sole purpose of explaining how organizations emphasize on the employee engagement for enhanced productivity and better competitiveness. Here the report uses the example of Microsoft in discussing its strategies implemented for the engagement of the employees (microsoft.com 2018). There is also analysis on how these strategies enabled the organization in acquiring the objectives. Strategies are necessary since they help in determining better employee engagement for higher productivity. In other words, organizations with engaged employees entails better performance than those whose employees are not. Employees who remain engaged not only believe in having connection with the organization but also work harder considering their work as important.
Discussion
Strategies implemented for Engaging Employees 
The strategies implemented by Microsoft for Engaging Employees are as follows:
Involving Employees in Bigger Moments: The annual meeting of Microsoft takes place in a stadium in Seattle and the employees located in different location feels left out (microsoft.com 2018). Therefore, the company in the Seattle area webcasted the meeting in a newer format of television style and tried offering giveaways for the online viewers. This was appreciated by the employees and they started liking the fact that they are a part of the Microsoft workforce. Moreover, while on boarding newer employees into its culture through merger, the company tried to portray how an ongoing merger could be beneficial for both the organizations making the employees experience the feeling to be part of Microsoft.
Letting the Employees have more Information about the Products: Employees at Microsoft are gradually moving from their desktops and are putting across demand for information anywhere and anytime (microsoft.com 2018). In other words, the employees wanted micro blogging and interactivity through social media platforms like the Face book and the Twitter along with the demand for having an access to the internal portal from doctor’s office. Microsoft viewed this as the business opportunity and let the employees have more information about the products which they can also share with their friends and family. Moreover, the organization also listened to complaints and appointed an expert for responding them. The openness portrayed by the company helped them win over the critics.
Making Things Easier for the People to Undertake an Action: Microsoft ensures the creation of an infographic series known as ‘by the numbers’ on the basis of the solid data that helped in drawing the interest of the software programmers. This attempt by Microsoft received appreciation since the company had an engineering culture where the employees had an affinity and liking for data points, numbers and facts (microsoft.com 2018). Besides, the organization also agreed to the employees’ decision of sharing the graphics externally. This is because Microsoft believed in the fact that it should not make things harder when involving the employees in taking an action.
By Keeping Things Real: For engaging the employees, Microsoft believed in following a strategy where they treated employees like real people (microsoft.com 2018). To implement it the organization tried to offer discounts to the employees and turned the shopping into social event where a general manager was brought from retail stores for answering questions about products.
How the Strategies Enabled the Organization in Achieving Objectives 
The adoption of digital culture as a strategy for engaging employees helped the company in earning a competitive advantage. A digital culture represents an environment where the leaders of the business win over technology as critical aspect in helping an organization to thrive and the usage of the tools is not only encouraged and supported but adopted organically(microsoft.com 2018). Therefore, a company like Microsoft with a stronger digital technology helps in encouraging the support and use of the technology for getting their work done in a most effective manner. It has however been revealed through various surveys that businesses that believes in combining a stronger digital culture with the positive organizational culture can see the highest gain from the adoption and the usage of the newer technology. When a particular business tries to equip the workers with the innovative technology and tries nurturing a stronger digital culture they become more productive. This also enhances the engagement of the employees with the organization and they become more passionate and focused to the project in hand. Thus, this helps in delivering better work with lesser efforts.
Then again, collaboration and creativity helps the business to become future proof. For innovation, businesses like Microsoft should not only tap into the individual strength of the people but also keep space for discussion, experimentation and cross fertilization of the ideas. The next breakthrough lies in ongoing input from the different people from the diverse teams and backgrounds that helps in turning an idea into innovation (Esslinger 2009).
Further, the cultivation of the individual talent of the employee makes them feel empowered while working within a digital culture. This implies that they are not only capable of doing the best work but also makes them feel that their voices are heard and they are capable of making a difference. In recent times, increasing amount of people wants to possess a feeling that they are contributing personally in the creation of an impact (Taneja, Sewell and Odom 2015). Hence, the pay checks and job titles do not act enough for attracting and retaining the best and the brightest. The emergence of technology can help in unlocking the collective employee potential and thereby unify the talent of the company in such a manner that the employees not only feels empowered but they also effectively work together.
Conclusion:
Thus to conclude, one can say that Microsoft from time and again has been considered for working with the happiest and the most productive employees. As the leader, the organization has always believed in doing and is still undertaking strategies for ensuring happier employees. However, for an organization as grand and widespread like the Microsoft, the biggest challenge lies in the fact that the employees are not just mere hands at work to which the organization has an easier solution which is visible through the report.
