Factors of Business Operating in Foreign Countries

As a technology consultant you will most likely be working with companies doing business abroad. Not all countries have the same ethical beliefs and policies as you. Issues of intellectual property, patents trademarks and trade secrets all arose. Respond to the situation, stating both the positive and negative factors of operating in a foreign country. 
Situation: A company is considering opening manufacturing sites in Asia. However, the leadership of the company has heard from other leaders working in several Asian countries that they lost trade secrets and eventually pulled out. 


Brief Idea of Situation
An organization has decided to open their manufacturing sites within Asia. However, the respective organizational leadership has eventually heard from all the other leaders, who are working in the various countries of Asia that they have lost their trade secrets and then have pulled out. This particular organization has hired a technology consultant for working with the organizations with business in all over the world. For the difference in ethical beliefs and ethical policies in several countries, various issues of intellectual property, trade secrets as well as patents trademarks have arose. However, there are several positive and negative factors for this type of situation, in which the business could operate in foreign countries. The description of these positive and negative factors are provided below.
Positive Factors of Business Operating in Foreign Countries 
The most important and significant positive factors of the business operating in foreign countries are as follows:

Transfer of New Technology: The first and the foremost noteworthy positive factor of such business operating in the foreign countries is that there is a better scope of transferring new technology (Noddings, 2013). This is extremely important for the business to obtain benefits from that particular new technology and the business information system would be upgraded efficiently.
Formation of Capital: Another important and significant positive factor of this type of business operating the foreign countries is that capital formation is possible. The business has to invest within property and machinery and the additional employment could occur in the respective supply chain when the local suppliers are being utilized.
Development of Human Resources: The next important and noteworthy positive factor of the foreign business operation is the proper development of human resources (Fromm, 2013). The business could easily train the local employees for improving their productivity and hence the overall company output would be increased with major profit.
Expansion of International Trade: The fourth noteworthy positive factor of foreign business set up is the expansion of international trade. This type of positive factor is also responsible for bringing higher profit in the business.

Negative Factors of Business Operating in Foreign Countries 
The negative factors for the factor that the business operating in the foreign countries are as follows:

Higher Costs in Technology: The major negative factor of the business operating within the foreign countries is the higher cost for the implementation of technology (Peters, 2015). This implementation could be quite expensive for the business and they would not be able to afford the business changes.
Problem with System Failure: Due to the change in information technology, system failure could be a major issue here and the business might suffer from significant losses and threats. This type of problem is extremely common for the business operation in foreign countries.
Difference in Ethical Beliefs: The ethical beliefs and ethical policies are different for every country and this could be a problem for such issue in business.
Intellectual Property and Trade Secrets: The issues related to intellectual property and trade secrets are also noteworthy for such situation (Niebuhr, 2013). Hence, this issue is significant for the business.
