Netterberg Research question addressed The research question is addressed through experimental analysis. The analysis of the way layers is impacted when loaded is conducted to determine their reaction and effects of the different layers. Comparison of the different layers is carried out to address the research question. Moreover, modelling through use of computer is carried out to analyse the effects of the loading of the weak layers [1]. Through the modelling, the stress analysis is carried out to determine the distortion nature which the weak layers used in the flexible and semi-flexible layers are able to experience. Interpretation of the hypothesis The hypothesis in this paper indicated that the weak interlayers in flexible and semi-flexible layers are able to lead to deleterious nature of the pavement wen loaded. This means that the pavement with these kind of layers need to have a control of traffic loading not to exceed their design loading. The use of these weak interlayers is seen as a common practice which is able to lead to much distress of the pavements. This is able to result to the failure of the pavements before the design life of the pavement is achieved [1].  The interpretation of the use of this layers is that surfacing layer will be unlikely to serve for long due to the stress impact the layer will be able to experience. Overall, the pavement layer will experience cracks when such layers are loaded and unable to last for the design period projected. Moreover, the construction traffic will be able to expose the weakness of such layers being used in pavement design. New research question and hypothesis The weak interlayers are able to have different strengths. This means that the level of deleterious effect experienced will depend on the amount of loading which is done to the layers [1]. The analysis of the cost effectiveness of the use of weak interlayers on some level of flexible and semi-flexible pavement layers is important to ensure that resources are not wasted where they are not needed. To show the cost effectiveness of the use of these weak interlayers in pavement, use of modelling is important. The modelling factor will be able to show the sustainability of such layers in some key pavement where a lot of traffic is not imposed [2] [3]. The use of the roads is an important factor must be considered in the decision of the kind of layers to be used in certain pavement layers. Loading analysis to enhance the cost effectiveness for the layers is important. It is important to look at these factor in order to determine the effectiveness of the layers cost effectiveness in functioning for certain traffic.
